Rema, a Nigerian artist, gained international recognition with his second track, “Calm Down.” The song’s popularity increased gradually before peaking with the collaboration with Selena Gomez’s remix.

On February 11, 2022, “Calm Down”—the second single from Rema’s debut studio album “Rave & Roses”—was made available. The song reached the top spot on the charts in numerous nations, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, and Switzerland, and it also made it into the top 10 in many other countries. The song peaked at #10 on the UK Billboard Chart and #74 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart after the Selena Gomez remix.

The song “Calm down Lyrics” is about Rema—in this case, the singer’s persona—looking for a woman’s potential love interest. However, the lady feels Rema lacks trust, which is the problem here.

“Calm down” song meaning

Rema declares his love for the subject girl and his desire for her in the song “Calm down”. In the words of his song, he talks about how desirable her body is, declaring that he would do anything to possess it as he keeps thinking about her.

He claims that the woman’s body puts him on “Lockdown” because he is unable to stop thinking about her—or, in this scenario, her physical appearance.

In the meantime, Rema argues that the woman should “Calm down” and have faith in him as there are other girls who want him too, but he isn’t fond of them as much as he does the girl. He claims:

Rema’s youthful, upbeat cadence fits in perfectly with the general framework of the song, making the whole thing feel easy and just plain enjoyable.
